How much does it really cost to charter a yacht in the Mediterranean in 2026? This is the question all our clients ask before they start their search—and it is also the hardest to answer without concrete data. Rates vary depending on the destination, the season, the yacht’s LOA, and the events taking place during the selected period.
This article provides real 2026 market figures—by destination, by yacht category and by season—so you can plan your budget accurately before contacting a broker. The data comes from International Yachts Charter and Brokerage, drawn from our charter activity across the entire Mediterranean basin.
The Factors That Determine the Price
Before comparing destinations, it is essential to understand the 4 variables that drive rates.
1. LOA — The Number One Factor
The yacht’s length overall is the primary determinant of price. Each LOA category corresponds to a different level of service, comfort, and guest capacity.
| Category | LOA | Passengers | Typical crew |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact motor yacht | 20-25 m | 6-8 | 2–3 crew members |
| Motor Yacht | 25-35 m | 8-10 | 3–5 crew members |
| Superyacht | 35-45 m | 10-12 | 5–8 crew members |
| Mega Yacht | 45-60 m | 12-14 | 8–12 crew members |
| Mega Yacht + | 60 m and above | 12-20 | 12+ crew members |
2. Season — A 40% to 60% Impact on Rates
The Mediterranean has three distinct seasons with very different rates:
High season (July–August) — peak demand, highest rates. Shoulder season (May–June, September) — excellent value for money, often better sailing conditions. Low season (March–April, October–November) — lowest rates, fewer crowds.
3. Destination — A 20% to 50% Variable
Not all Mediterranean destinations are equal in terms of pricing. Monaco and Cannes during their flagship events are among the most expensive destinations in the world. Greece and certain areas of the French Riviera outside event periods are significantly more accessible.
4. Events — A 20% to 100% Surcharge
Event weeks—Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix, Monaco Yacht Show—carry significant surcharges compared with standard high-season weeks.
Comparison by Destination — 2026 Rates
French Riviera — The Premium Destination
The French Riviera is the global benchmark for luxury yacht charter. It is also the most expensive—especially during event weeks, when demand is concentrated in a market with limited supply.
Cannes
Cannes hosts the two most in-demand events of the Mediterranean charter season.
| LOA | Low season | High season | Cannes Film Festival | Cannes Lions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €15,000 – €30,000 | €25,000–€50,000 | €35,000–€70,000 | €30,000–€60,000 |
| 25-35 m | €30,000–€70,000 | €55,000–€120,000 | €70,000–€160,000 | €65,000–€140,000 |
| 35-45 m | €80,000–€160,000 | €120,000–€250,000 | €150,000–€350,000 | €130,000–€300,000 |
| 45–55 m | €150,000–€300,000 | €250,000–€500,000 | €320,000–€700,000 | €280,000–€600,000 |

- ANNAMIA — Baglietto 43 m — from €120,000/week
- RILASSATA — Tankoa 49.8 m — from €210,000/week
Monaco
Monaco is the Riviera’s most exclusive destination. Rates during the Grand Prix are the highest of the entire Mediterranean season.
| LOA | Low season | High season | Grand Prix | Monaco Yacht Show |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €18,000–€35,000 | €28,000–€55,000 | €40,000–€80,000 | €25,000–€50,000 |
| 25-35 m | €35,000–€80,000 | €60,000–€130,000 | €80,000–€180,000 | €55,000–€120,000 |
| 35-45 m | €90,000–€180,000 | €130,000–€270,000 | €180,000–€400,000 | €120,000–€250,000 |

See our Monaco yacht charter prices page for detailed seasonal rates.
Saint-Tropez
Saint-Tropez offers a unique combination—peak summer season and autumn events (Les Voiles, Paradis Porsche)—with rates generally lower than Monaco and event-week Cannes.
| LOA | Low season | High season | Sails of Saint-Tropez |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €12,000–€28,000 | €22,000–€45,000 | €18,000–€38,000 |
| 25-35 m | €28,000–€65,000 | €50,000–€110,000 | €42,000–€95,000 |
| 35-45 m | €70,000–€150,000 | €110,000–€230,000 | €95,000–€200,000 |

See our Saint-Tropez yacht charter prices page for full details.
Balearic Islands — The Best Value for Money
The Balearic Islands—Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca, Menorca—offer the best value for money in the Western Mediterranean. Rates are 20% to 30% lower than the French Riviera for sailing quality that is often superior—clearer waters, and less crowded anchorages outside high season.
| LOA | Low season | High season | Peak season (August) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €10,000–€22,000 | €18,000–€38,000 | €22,000–€45,000 |
| 25-35 m | €22,000–€55,000 | €40,000–€90,000 | €50,000–€110,000 |
| 35-45 m | €55,000–€120,000 | €90,000–€200,000 | €110,000–€240,000 |
| 45–55 m | €110,000–€230,000 | €190,000–€380,000 | €230,000–€460,000 |
Ibiza vs Formentera: Ibiza is livelier—clubs, restaurants, events—with slightly higher rates. Formentera is more natural, less crowded, with some of the clearest waters in the Mediterranean. Both are accessible from the same anchorage by shuttle or tender.
Our fleet available in the Balearics:
- RAY — Numarine 32XP 2025 — draft 2.71 m — access to Ibiza’s most beautiful coves
- RILASSATA — Tankoa 49.8 m — draft 2.25 m — access to Formentera’s secret calas
Italy — Sardinia and Capri
Sardinia
Sardinia—Porto Cervo, Costa Smeralda, La Maddalena Archipelago—is Italy’s benchmark destination for luxury charter. The turquoise waters of the Costa Smeralda and the anchorages of the La Maddalena Archipelago are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.
| LOA | Low season | High season | Porto Cervo (August) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €12,000–€25,000 | €20,000–€40,000 | €25,000–€50,000 |
| 25-35 m | €25,000–€60,000 | €45,000–€100,000 | €55,000–€120,000 |
| 35-45 m | €60,000–€130,000 | €100,000–€210,000 | €120,000–€260,000 |
| 45–55 m | €120,000–€250,000 | €210,000–€400,000 | €260,000–€500,000 |
Porto Cervo in August—the week of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (usually early September) generates demand comparable to French Riviera events.
Capri
Capri is more of a stopover than a long-stay destination—the Grotta Azzurra, the Faraglioni, and anchoring opposite Capri town are unforgettable moments on a Campania/Amalfi itinerary. Rates for Capri alone are difficult to separate from Amalfi itineraries.
Greece — The Rising Destination
Greece—Mykonos, Santorini, Cyclades, Dodecanese—is the fastest-growing Mediterranean destination since 2020. Rates are still 15% to 25% lower than the French Riviera, with exceptional sailing conditions and landscapes.
| LOA | Low season | High season | Mykonos (August) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €9,000–€20,000 | €16,000–€35,000 | €20,000–€42,000 |
| 25-35 m | €20,000–€50,000 | €35,000–€80,000 | €45,000–€100,000 |
| 35-45 m | €50,000–€110,000 | €80,000–€180,000 | €100,000–€220,000 |
| 45–55 m | €100,000–€210,000 | €170,000–€350,000 | €210,000–€420,000 |
Logistical advantage: Greece does not require high berthing fees like Monaco or French Riviera ports. Island anchorages are often free or minimal cost—so the APA is proportionally lower than on the French Riviera.
Dubai — The Winter Destination
Dubai is the benchmark charter destination for the winter season (November to March)—when the Mediterranean is cold. Temperatures of 25–28°C, calm waters of the Persian Gulf, and Dubai’s skyline in the background.
| LOA | Winter season (Nov–Mar) |
|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €18,000–€40,000 |
| 25-35 m | €40,000–€90,000 |
| 35-45 m | €90,000–€190,000 |
| 45–55 m | €190,000–€380,000 |
Caribbean — The Premium Winter Alternative
The Caribbean—and in particular Saint Barthélemy—is the benchmark destination for clients seeking the service level and prestige of the French Riviera in a tropical setting.
| LOA | Caribbean low season | High season (Dec–Feb) |
|---|---|---|
| 20-25 m | €14,000–€30,000 | €20,000–€45,000 |
| 25-35 m | €30,000–€70,000 | €45,000–€110,000 |
| 35-45 m | €70,000–€150,000 | €110,000–€240,000 |
| 45–55 m | €150,000–€290,000 | €230,000–€450,000 |
Our RILASSATA (Tankoa 49.8 m) is available in the Caribbean from December to February—from €385,000/week in high season.
Global Comparison — Same LOA, All Destinations
For a 35–45-metre superyacht in high season, here is the complete comparison:
| Destination | High-season weekly rate | Value for money |
|---|---|---|
| Monaco Grand Prix | €180,000–€400,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exclusivity |
| Cannes Film Festival | €150,000–€350,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prestige |
| French Riviera standard | €120,000–€250,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good |
| Sardinia Porto Cervo | €120,000–€260,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good |
| Balearics Ibiza | €90,000–€200,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent |
| Greece Mykonos | €80,000–€180,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent |
| Saint-Tropez | €110,000–€230,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good |
| Caribbean Saint Barth | €110,000–€240,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good |
| Capri | €90,000–€190,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good |
| Dubai | €90,000–€190,000 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good |
APA — What to Add to the Base Rate
The base rate covers only the provision of the yacht and crew. The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers fuel, port fees, provisions, and taxes—it represents 25% to 35% of the base rate.
Concrete example — ASCENSION Couach 37 m in Cannes in high season:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Base rate | €125,000 excl. VAT |
| Estimated APA (30%) | €37,500 |
| Estimated Total | €162,500 excl. VAT |
Example — RAY Numarine 32XP in the Balearics:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Base rate | €120,000 excl. VAT |
| Estimated APA (25% — lower port fees) | €30,000 |
| Estimated Total | €150,000 excl. VAT |
Why is the APA lower in the Balearics and Greece? Port fees on the islands are significantly lower than in Monaco or Cannes. In Monaco during the Grand Prix, port fees alone can represent €15,000 to €25,000 over a week—i.e., 10% to 20% of the base rate of a 40-metre superyacht.

How to Optimise Your Charter Budget
Choose the shoulder season — May, June, and September offer rates 20% to 35% lower than July–August, with often better sailing conditions (fewer crowds, more consistent winds, less congested ports).
Combine two events — a charter covering the Monaco Grand Prix + Cannes Lions on the same yacht is less expensive than two separate charters.
Prefer anchoring over berthing — during events in Cannes and Monaco, anchoring in the bay with tender rotations can save €8,000 to €20,000 in port fees over a week.
Book early — the best yachts for high season and events are booked from January. By March–April, the best-positioned yachts are often already taken.
Choose the Balearics or Greece — for an equivalent level of comfort, these destinations are 20% to 30% cheaper than the standard French Riviera—and often offer superior waters and anchorages.
